Macro Menu is a free consumer app, but underneath it is a single maintained dataset: 3,152 rows across 16 Australian fast food chains, normalised to one schema, with every size its own record. If you are building something that needs Australian chain nutrition data, you can have it rather than build and maintain your own — free if you credit it, or kept current from $129 a month.

What is actually in it

Every row carries the product name, the chain, its category and size, energy in both kilojoules and calories, and protein, fat and carbohydrate. Sizes are separate rows, so a Regular and a Large are distinct records rather than a range. Serve figures are per serve as sold, matching how the chain publishes them. Every row has a stable id, so a later refresh diffs cleanly against the one before it.

Product photography is not part of this. The pictures in the app are the chains' own images and are not mine to pass on, so they are not included at any tier and I will not quote for them.

The part that is worth paying for

Collecting a menu once is a weekend. Keeping 16 of them right is the job. Chains reformulate, resize, discontinue and relaunch constantly, and a nutrition dataset that was correct last year is quietly wrong today - which is the failure mode of most of the data on the market.

Every menu here records the source it was read from and the date a person last checked it against the live menu, and anything older than 90 days is flagged as due for a re-check rather than presented as current. 13 of the 16 menus are entirely the chain's own published figures; the rest are marked as part-estimated on the menu itself, so you can see which menus carry a derived figure. That marking is per menu, not per row — the licensing paperwork says the same, and the two must not drift apart. Every correction is published with the old figure and the new one. Three ways to use it

Pick one and the form below opens with it already filled in. Nothing is charged here and nothing is automatic — every one of these ends with me writing back.

A year costs ten months, not twelve. That is $258 off one chain and $858 off the lot, and it is the same data either way — the only thing you give up is the option to stop in month three.

Something else? Redistribution inside your own data product, white-label, a one-off bulk extract, or a research licence for a university - all fine, and none of them fit a price list. Pick any box above and say what you actually need in the message.

Prices are in Australian dollars and are launch pricing: whatever you start on is held for your first year. Any GST is shown on the invoice. If you are not sure which you want, take the free one - it is the same data.

What “kept current” actually means

Upkeep is the only part of this that is genuinely mine, so it is the only part being charged for. Here is what it buys, in plain terms:

• Every chain you licence is re-read and re-checked at least monthly against the live menu, and anything that moved is corrected.
• Corrections go out as they are found, not held back for the next cycle.
• A change log with every refresh: what changed, the old figure and the new one.
• Stable ids, so a refresh diffs cleanly against the one before it and you can see exactly what moved.
• An email address that reaches a person, with a reply within two working days.
• No uptime guarantee, and no promise a chain will keep publishing. If a source disappears you will be told plainly, rather than quietly handed stale numbers.

If you stop paying

The short version: you keep the data you already have. This is a subscription to the upkeep, not a rental of the file — a dataset you have to hand back is not one anyone can safely build on, so it is not the deal on offer here.

• The last file you received stays yours permanently, on the same terms it was licensed under. Nothing switches off, nothing phones home, and there is no key to expire.
• What stops is the refreshes, the change log and the support. The figures you hold then age quietly as the chains change their menus — that, and nothing else, is what you were paying for.
• Monthly has no minimum term. Cancel whenever you like and it runs to the end of the month you have already paid for.
• A yearly licence runs to the end of the year you bought, and you will get an email before it ends. You will not be quietly auto-renewed.
• If I ever stop maintaining a chain, or stop altogether, you will be told plainly and you keep everything you already have. What I will not do is go quiet and leave you serving stale numbers under your own name.

They are published facts and are not owned by Macro Menu, and nothing here is offered as an exclusive right to them. What is licensed is the compiled and maintained dataset - the schema, the normalising, the provenance and checked dates, the change history and the ongoing maintenance. Product photography is not included at any tier, free or paid: those images belong to the chains and Macro Menu has no right to pass them on.
